Import Objects

In this tutorial, you will learn the simple steps to import a 3D object into Unwrella-IO. Unwrella-IO is versatile in its support for various 3D file formats, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of 3D modeling and animation tools.

Supported 3D Formats in Unwrella-IO:

  • *.dae - An XML-based open standard format, ideal for exchanging digital assets among various graphics software applications.
  • *.fbx - The FBX file format is a proprietary, binary file format widely used for 3D modeling, animation, and game development, offering support for complex data structures like meshes, animations, and materials.
  • *.glb - The GLB file format is a binary version of the GLTF (Graphics Language Transmission Format) format, optimized for compact size and efficient importing in 3D applications and web environments.
  • *.gltf - GLTF (Graphics Language Transmission Format) is a JSON-based, open standard file format for 3D scenes and models, designed for efficient transmission and importing of 3D content in web and application environments.
  • *.obj - The OBJ file format is a simple, open format used to represent 3D geometry, including the position of each vertex, the UV position of each texture coordinate vertex, normals, and the faces that make each polygon.
  • *.ply - The PLY file format, also known as the Polygon File Format or Stanford Triangle Format, is a simple, flexible format primarily used to store 3D data from 3D scanners, including vertex, color, and texture information, as well as polygonal faces.
  • *.stl - The STL file format is a widely used 3D modeling file format primarily for 3D printing, representing the surface geometry of a three-dimensional object using triangular facets.

Steps to Import a 3D Object:

Step 1

Start by launching the Unwrella-IO software on your computer.

Step 2

You can now double-click in the window or click on the "+" icon on the left sidebar to load your object and navigate through your file explorer to the location of your 3D object file. Select the 3D object file you wish to import and click ‘Open’. Unwrella-IO Window and the imported Object Alternatively, you can simply drag and drop an object into the window.
