Let’s try it.
Run Unwrella-IO
After downloading and installing Unwrella-IO, locate it in your applications
(Windows: Start Menu) and launch it.
After a short time, you should see the Unwrella-IO Window. It should look like this:
Step 1
You can now double-click in the window or click on the "+" icon on the left sidebar to load your object. Alternatively, you can simply drag and drop an object into the window. All three methods are synonymous, and you should end up with something like this:
Step 2
The 3D object should now be imported and visible in the viewport.
Based on the topology and shape of your object, choose the most suitable unwrapping method:
Hard Surface – Optimized for architectural models and rigid geometric structures.
Organic – Best suited for curved and deformable models, such as characters or natural objects.
Mosaic – Designed for photogrammetry, preserving texture continuity across complex scanned surfaces.
Step 3
The 3D object should now be imported and visible in the window.
Press the “Unwrap” button:
Step 4
Unwrella-IO will unwrap and pack the UVs and overlay the UV Wireframe result in the foreground.
The outcome should resemble the following screenshot:
Step 5
To toggle between the 3D object and the packed UV-Wireframe, you can:
double-click with the right mouse button,
press SPACE on the keyboard,
or
click the small ‘Switch’ icon located in the bottom right corner of the screen.
👏 Congratulations!
