Unwrella Nodes in the Node Graph

Unwrella for Autodesk Maya works through nodes in Maya’s dependency graph.
This allows Unwrella to integrate into Maya’s procedural workflow while keeping the original geometry structure editable.

Updating Unwrella Output

Unwrella calculations can be time-consuming, especially on complex or high-resolution meshes.
For this reason, Unwrella nodes do not automatically update their output every time settings or input geometry change.

Automatically recalculating the UVs after every small node graph change could cause noticeable delays and interrupt the workflow.

Instead, updates must be triggered manually.

ℹ️
To update the Unwrella result, press the Apply button in the Attribute Editor for the corresponding Unwrella node.

Recommended Workflow

If you only need to adjust Unwrella settings, use the Apply button to update the result.

However, if you are making larger changes to the mesh itself, it is usually better to:

Remove the Unwrella node

Remove the current Unwrella modifier node from the object.

Finish mesh editing

Complete all modeling or topology changes first.

Apply Unwrella again

Add a new Unwrella node once the mesh structure is final.

This avoids unnecessary recalculations and keeps the workflow responsive.

Summary

Unwrella nodes require manual updates by design.
Use Apply when changing Unwrella settings, and reapply the node after major geometry changes.
